The body is also central to the paintings of Huang Yan. Live nude models and even dead preserved animals are not the subjects of his work, they are the canvases itself on which he paints traditional Chinese landscapes. Is the body more alive than the trad tion of painting, or just the opposite? Whatever it is, Huang Yan brings us a new vision of beauty. The viewer will have no difficulty imagining the experience of being painted on.
