The CEAC also advises artists on how to produce their work outside their studio and shares with them a large network of local artists, companies and work sites to enable them to implement their projects in the best possible way.<\/p>\n<p>The CEAC stimulates a cultural and intellectual exchange between residents, local artists and students at the Art &#038; Design Department of Xiamen University.\u00a0CEAC also shares with the artists the\u00a0interpersonal network resources of studios, art schools, art institutions, foundations, embassies and consulates.\u00a0During the stay, artist receive guidance from the CEAC, residents can be invited to give lectures, presentations, workshops, guest seminars about their work for students.<\/p>\n<p>At the conclusion of their residence, artists are invited to present their research project and new work at the Art Center. The CEAC can also help mediate presentation spots in other cities in China. For those who want to travel during their residency, CEAC offers travel advice and assistance in China (reserving tickets, hotels, getting visas). <br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"container-content-block\">\n<div class=\"subheader-content\">\n<h3>Apartments<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"exhibition-detailpage-intro-image\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ceac99.org\/cn\/uploads\/2021\/09\/\u672a\u6807\u9898-1-scaled.jpg\" width=\"501\" height=\"376\" \/>The apartments and studios provide space for two persons or a family and are furnishes and fully equipped for living and working. Services include a fully working air conditioning, washing machine, telephone, internet, TV and a DVD player. Located around the seaside and old harbor of Xiamen the apartments are all very close to the art centre. Residents can live and work at one of the apartments on a quiet street with a view of the South China Sea.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"container-content-block\">\n<div class=\"subheader-content\">\n<h3>Costs<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"exhibition-detailpage-intro-image\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ceac99.org\/cn\/uploads\/2021\/09\/DSC_0426-1-scaled.jpg\" width=\"501\" height=\"376\" \/>The fixed costs for the residency are paid in advance by the the resident to the CEAC after approval of the application. These costs are based on the duration of stay and the type of apartment that fit the needs of the resident. The CEAC can give organizational and technical advice, assist in creating works of art from start to finish, and arrange door-to-door shipment in China and abroad.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Ceramics &amp; porcelain<br \/>\nThe unique porcelain village of De Hua, a two-hour drive from Xiamen, is famous for its white clay, Blanc de Chine or &#8220;Chinese white&#8221;. The CEAC has good contact with De Hua porcelain factories and work sites so artists can experiment and produce ceramic and porcelain objects with the help of experienced technical assistants.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Engraving, letterpress printing, lithography, silk-screen, art publications<br \/>\nThe CEAC has been working with the best printers in Xiamen for years. Many of the residents print books during their stay in Xiamen, sometimes using Chinese pop-up and paper-cutting techniques.<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"exhibitionpresent\">\u00a0<img class=\"exhibition-detailpage-intro-image\"  \nsrc=\"http:\/\/www.ceac99.org\/cn\/uploads\/2021\/09\/1.jpg\" width=\"501\" height=\"376\" \/<br \/>\n\u2022 Glass and crystal <br \/>\nSome work sites in Xiamen are specialized in various kinds of hand-blown<br \/>\nglass and crystal. Glass-blowing requires a great deal of skill and practice, <br \/>\nand the CEAC knows where to find the best local glass workers.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Granite and marble<br \/>\nXiamen is known for producing sculptures of all sizes in marble, granite,<br \/>\nsandstone, basalt, quartz, travertine, limestone, lava and so forth. The CEAC<br \/>\ntechnical advisor has worked with most of the local manufacturers and knows<br \/>\ntheir specialties.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Lacquer <br \/>\nChinese lacquer is a natural varnish made from the sap of the lacquer tree.<br \/>\nThe city of Fuzhou, a two-hour drive from Xiamen, is well-known for bodiless<br \/>\nlacquerware, one of the &#8220;Three Treasures&#8221; of Chinese arts and crafts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"exhibitionpresent\">\u00a0<img class=\"exhibition-detailpage-intro-image\" \nsrc=\"http:\/\/www.ceac99.org\/cn\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2.jpg\" width=\"501\" height=\"376\" \/><br \/>\n\u2022 Photography, film, video, sound, animation and newer digital technology<br \/>\nThe CEAC introduces residents to production assistants, local laboratories,<br \/>\ndesigners and students in the field. <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Stainless steel, hammered steel, bronze sculptures <br \/>\nMany work sites in Xiamen specialize in designing, developing and manufacturing<br \/>\n(handicraft) sculptures in various designs, colors and sizes. The CEAC technical<br \/>\nadvisor knows them all and can tell you which work site is best for your work.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Textile <br \/>\nGulong Market is the largest fabric and clothing market in Xiamen. It has more<br \/>\nthan 150 fabric stores, tailor shops and garment accessory stores all under one roof.<br \/>\nThe salespeople and tailors can help you complete your design.
