Sara Riel (b. 1980) has continuously developed and redefined her artistic projects though out her career, in a process of constant experimentation. As an artist she is highly experienced in working in very diverse environments and institutional contexts from large-scale institutions to artist run spaces, from museums to public space interventions.

It’s safe to say that Sara Riel has a kind of unique status in the Icelandic art world. Few artists have undertaken as large wall paintings in public spaces and been as productive in street art as she has. Sara’s wall paintings are installations in the urban landscape, their position is carefully planned and all landmarks around them taken into context.

During her career, Sara has worked on various projects, characterised by different periods which evolve from one to the next. She is a visual explorer, the world is an ocean of possibilities which turns into an inexhaustible source of new creations.
