Born in 1990, Lin Jing is an exotic native of Shapowei, Xiagang District of Xiamen.
It is her habit to question all the fixed things; habits are also fixed. So this is a paradox. Because of this, she instinctively repeats some behaviors to dispel this doubt, and then continue the action until she is fully convinced that she has found the self.

Originally educated as a painter, my work recently shifted towards multimedia installations. These comprise an arrangement of painted objects, sculptures, drawings, found items, photographic prints and video. Materials in the work share tactile qualities. Organic matter like unfired clay and wood are combined with styrofoam and synthetic fabrics.

Every work derives from the urgency to find a physical form for the elusive. More and more, I draw from my own emotional life and experiences, trusting these personal images to have universal scope. The human body is the main point of focus – both alive and dead, or in transition between the two.

It is a collection of attempts to grasp life and death, to materialize absence, to exile anxieties while trying not to avoid them, to incorporate my own body, to find strength in vulnerability, to deny or enforce gravity, to let go, to touch things I cannot name, to honor doubt and make decisions,to remember being born, to recreate the past and maybe also the present. Attempts to find a physical form for solidified motion, for stored memories of the body, for dreams, for the boundaries between inside and outside, for things that are missing, for things that touch on something fundamental, for things that enter my skin.

The Dutch artists-duo Vroegop/Schoonveld (Matty Vroegop & Ed Schoonveld )- currently having an exhibition in the CEAC at Xiamen – do not operate in that way. Far from decrying the commonplace they pay due attention to it and unveil it as the amazing world it is, offering a fresh view on the mass-produced things with which we surround ourselves.
In the last century mass production was mostly seen as the opposite of works of art. The mass production and mass copying of artworks did challenge the common ideal of the artist. Perhaps we should no longer look at the artist as the exalted genius who produces unique pieces of art. Rather the contemporary artist, exposed to the surrounding technological culture, may position him or herself as a researcher who investigates the prevailing conditions of perception and image production in everyday life.

Guðmundur Guðmundsson later known as Erró.

1932 Born in Ólafsvik, Iceland
1949-1951 Reykjavik School of Fine Arts
1952-1953 Oslo Academy of Fine Arts, Norway
1953-1955 Florence Academy of Fine Arts, Ravenna Mosaics School.

From 1958 Erró has been living and working in Paris but generally spends part of the winter in Thailand and the summers at his house in Formentera Spain.

Erró is without any doubts the best known Icelandic artist today. He started in the fifties in Italie but soon he moved to Paris and shortly after he also settled in New York. In his early time he worked closely together with the French avant-garde artists and also later with the American pop-artists.

In Iceland there is a permanent museum for his art and he is extremely populair by the Icelandic people – an absolut super star one could say. His paintings can be found in all the leading museums in Europe and USA.

Today Erró lives both in Thailand and French but he keeps always close contact with his native country Iceland. In the fall of this year there will be a huge one-man-exhibition of his work in the Beijing museum ….

Erró had already planned to make a big exhibition at the Chinese European Art Center –
but in the end we found out that the space we have was too small for such an exhibition.
But we are extremely happy to have a primeur of Erró´s work on this celebration exhibition
in our Art Center.
